Pdx Art: Studio visit & interview with Heidi Elise Wirz

Studio visit and interview with Heidi Elise Wirz

Hi Heidi

here are a few interview questions

How do you see life in general?

Life to me honestly an huge steaplechase, between: work, my son, art, my partner, community and just personal balance it, is really overwhelming. I most certainly go through rough periods where I hate (sincerely) everyone car I pass on the street, but, can usually not make that apparent to most people. My main objective is to teach my son that he can be what ever it is he wants to be.

What kind of Art do you create and why?

I am an personal arsonal illustrator. Because I cant stop.

How do you see the survival rate for artists, are they a threatened species?

There will always be more. Better stay where you are!!!!

How and what can Cities and specifically Portland do for their Artists?

Encourage people to buy locally. There is a huge wealth of people that are going to going to be really expensive soon. It would behoove Portland collectors to go out and spend $100 on piece. We are not going to stop doing this!!!!!!

You had already a busy year artistically can you give us an overview and tell us what you learned from that experience so far?

So far this year I have had 22 shows in PDX, one in London, two in Denver, and one in Miami, am doing Miami Basel this year. I have learned that hard work pays off and that there are no secrets . Just work!

You are working on a show with Klutch when and where is it and what can we expect?

Oh! The show with Klutch is at the Goodfoot on the Last Thursday of August. Its going to be a complete privilage to show with Klutch. He is a true badass, and it is an honor to show with him...the linework is going off the chain and around the corner

Where can one see your Art on the net and where do you see yourself artistically in the future?

I currently have work hanging at:

Poboy Art
Tenderlovingempire
Compound Gallery
Coure Gallery
and...
Live paint at Jupiter Hotel with:
Jen Mercede
Brett Superstar
Eatcho

and end of August at Goodfoot~!

Where is your place in the bigger picture?

I am an objectivist. My place in the art world at large is my place. I do not feel that I am better than anyone. I mearly have a lot to say. Art for me is the only way that I can communicate with anything..(this interview being proof of that). Emotions run very thickly, and I am not sure how to answer these questions.
